Dancers mark 20 years
by the staff of the Durham Advertiser
THE twentieth anniversary of a traditional dance team is marked with a morris festival this weekend.
Kern Morris, formed in Durham in 1986, has developed a repertoire of traditional dance styles and has performed across Britain, on the Continent and in the US.
To mark two successful decades, the club is staging a festival in Durham, on Saturday. Dance teams from across the region will appear at venues in the city centre, performing various styles of old English dance.
Open air performances will be held in Millennium Place, Elvet and Kingsgate bridges, and alongside Brown's Boathouse, 11am - 4pm, while all the teams come together to dance on Palace Green, at 4pm.
