WORLD leading road and competition tyre producer Dunlop will be
the title sponsor of the MSA British Touring Car Championship for
the next three years.
Dunlop has been the exclusive tyre supplier to the BTCC - Britain's
biggest motor racing championship - for the past two seasons.
BTCC Series Director Alan Gow said: "This is the largest ever
title sponsorship in the history of the BTCC and it is fantastic
for everyone involved in the championship, including our huge fan
base.
"It provides the BTCC with a solid foundation on which to
continue building our great championship and is testament to the
fabulous marketing platform the BTCC provides.
"I'm delighted to welcome Dunlop on board and I know it will
prove to be a highly valued and enthusiastic partner in our programme."
Dunlop's presence in the BTCC will extend considerably beyond supplying
tyres to the championship.
Dunlop will utilise and promote the BTCC through its multi-million
pound advertising, marketing and promotional activity across the
country, at race meetings and on its new driversknow. co. uk website.
Dunlop's Geraldine McGovern said:"We are delighted to become
title sponsor of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship
until the end of 2007.
"Our commitment is very much about investment in the Dunlop
brand, as well as building our motor sport presence.
"The growing popularity of the BTCC and the exposure it receives
give us a perfect opportunity to be in front of our target audience
of keen driving enthusiasts.
"We are genuinely excited to be an integral part of this great
championship."
Your name reveals more about you than you might think.
According to research from Churchill Car Insurance, it can even
influence your choice of car.
Analysis of 500,000 names from Churchill's motor insurance database
shows some strong associations between Britons' names and the types
of car they drive.
It seems Chav culture has infiltrated not only our choice of fashion
but also cars - with Wayne, Darren and Tracey all driving today's
motor of choice, a Ford Escort.
Second choice car is the Vauxhall Astra, accessorised by go-faster
stripes and bass speakers in the boot, driven by Gary, Carl and
Lee.
The Nissan Micra is still granny's choice, driven by Joyce, Doreen,
Beryl and Audrey.
Today's Mondeo man, complete with driving gloves and classic rock
on the stereo (a la Alan Partridge) is called Adrian, Howard or
Julian.
Rodney is no longer found in Peckham in his three-wheeled Robin
Reliant, he too has upgraded to a Ford Mondeo.
It is unlikely today's Renault Clios are driven by Nicole from
the ads, they're driven by Sarah, Gemma or Amy.
And for men, it seems Matthew, Adam and Alexander live in hope
that by choosing a Clio, some of Thierry Henry's 'va va voom' will
rub off on them!
Darren McCauley, of Churchill Car Insurance, said: "It seems
there is a link between the names that parents give their children
and the type of car they go on to choose as an adult.
"Whether we get our first car at 17 or 77 years, it does seem
it is name that drives our choice of car.
However, Churchill does not underwrite its policies on a name basis!
