AN artist's view of North-East industry is showcased in an exhibition that runs until early next month.

Mavis Bell, from Whickham, Gateshead, has always been interested in industrial scenes, and her paintings include the Corus Steelworks at Redcar, where she saw the blast furnace in action.

She said: "Seeing the molten iron run was awesome, and the colours astounding."

The exhibition of her work, called Northern Industry, opened this week in the Print Room at the DLI Museum and Durham Art Gallery, Aykley Heads, Durham.

It will run until Sunday, April 2.
