Basking in the glow of an exhibition inspired by Abbey candlelight

WORK produced by an artist while in residence at an abbey has gone on display.

Tyneside artist Pam Malkin spent last year as artist in residence at Hexham Abbey, in Northumberland, where she took a particular interest in candlelight.

The result of her time there is a series of works that are on show at The Lamplight Arts Centre, Front Street, Stanley, County Durham.

The exhibition is called With a Pure Clear Light and includes watercolours and mixed media artworks.

A spokesman for the centre said: "The work is inspired by the theme of light and the physical and emotional qualities of candlelight."

The exhibition runs until February 24, and admission is free. It can be viewed during normal centre opening times.

For details call reception at the Lamplight on (01207) 218899.
