Fun and games from past at museum

AN award-winning museum will give visitors the chance to play old-fashioned games.

The Beck Isle Museum, in Pickering, is holding a games, rural crafts and trades event starting on Sunday, May 28.

There will be a variety of traditional games and demonstrations.

Craftspeople will be involved in spinning, quilting, patchwork, lace making, quilling and printing.

In the newly-refurbished blacksmith shop, there will be a demonstration of the skills needed to work in a smithy.

A spokeswoman for the museum said: "If you haven't been to the museum lately, this is an excellent opportunity to remind yourself of the many treasures relating to the rural crafts and way of life over the past two hundred years."

Normal admission charges will apply.

The museum is open daily from 10am to 5pm.
