Making A DifferenceGreen groups can make a difference
Community groups have less than two months to enter The Northern Echo's environment competition. Making A Difference is in its fifth year and has been sponsored since it started by regional development agen-cy One NorthEast. It is open to groups or individuals involved in projects ranging from improving school grounds, en- hancing wildlife habitats, planting trees, restoring hedgerows, promoting energy efficiency or supporting recycling. The closing date is Friday, August 15, and a shortlist of three will be drawn up. The schemes will be visited by a panel of judges which will include the competition administrator and freelance journalist John Dean, Durham Wildlife Trust chief executive Richard Wood and a representative of One NorthEast. The winner will be presented with £500 and two-runners-up will also receive prizes. Past entrants are welcome because it will give them a chance to explain to the judges how their projects have progressed. If you wish to nominate your scheme, simply print out the entry form, complete it with as much information as you want, and post it back to us by August 15. Entry forms will also be printed in The Northern Echo. back | ||||||||
