My cat got some very sticky stuff on one back paw from the garden. It smelled like pine resin but I'm not certain if it was from a pine tree tho it is possible. Have managed to clean most of it off with olive oil but he did briefly lick it before I got to him. Is there likely to be any harmful effect from this? Is there anything else I can use to clean up his paw? Many thanks.

Dear Sheila,

As an eye consultant, I see a lot of chronic eye problems with cats. They are often present from when you first take them on, but you did say your vets says the eye problem is due to breeding? What breed? If is a persian, then it may be simply the cats eyes are open/exposed a lot. But, more often, I find, the problems is chronic cat flu or chlamydia affecting the eyes. Yes, the drops would be palliative, but not curative.and the red eye discharge is quite ok! If you give me more details i could maybe suggest some therapies?
