I recently inherited a 10 year old cat, She is a lovely little thing with a nice temperament. I have kept her on the same food that she was used to eating , and she has a healthy appetite despite the fact that she has no front upper teeth! But I have noticed over the last eight weeks that her tummy has started to swell. I have felt all around her abdomen and it feels like she's full of wind or gas . There are no apparent lumps or bumps, It doesn’t hurt her if I press her tummy and she seems fine in herself, still wanting to play , cuddle, meow for her dinner etc. I have not noticed that she has trouble going to the toilet or her being sick. Any Ideas?

Dear Katie,

With symptoms like you describe it could be a great many things including overfeeding that could be the cause of your cats stomach getting bigger. If you are concerned then I would take her to the vets and have her checked to eliminate hyperthyroidism, diabetes etc. Sorry I can't be of a lot of help but when cats have that sort of problem it coul dbe too many things. Has she been wormed recently.
